BIOGRAPHY
In pursuit of an academic life, after receiving his MD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Riazy moved to Beautiful British Columbia to start his PhD at UBC, with a focus on lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, inflammation, and vascular bioplay. Alongside research, he was involved with Medical and Dental undergraduate teaching in areas such as principals of human biology, problem-based learning, Doctor, patient, and society (DPAS), and clinical skills. During his PhD, Dr. Riazy also learned that pathology is the most fulfilling area of Medicine for him and started his postgraduate medical training at the University of British Columbia in Anatomical Pathology. The complexity of diagnostic Renal Pathology, utilization of multiple modalities to study a small fragment of tissue from different perspectives, requirement for a solid understanding of clinical aspects, and close interaction with the nephrologists drew him to Renal Pathology. He completed his renal pathology fellowship at University of Washington, Seattle in 2018 after which he moved back home to join the pathology department at St. Paul's Hospital.
